The Informational Interview may be the most underutilized networking tactic in today’s job market! Although career centers promote and encourage them, most college students and job seekers rarely take advantage of Informational Interviews. Why do I need to complete a ABF Career Alliance profile?

Completing your profile gives you full access to connect to students, jobs seekers, career allies, and is a required for posting one-to-one career connections, jobs, internships, or externships.

How do I update or make changes to my profile?

It’s a good idea to keep your profile up-to-date so it reflects new activities, skills, experiences, and accomplishments. Here’s a quick reminder for how to make additions and changes.

  3. Choose the fields you wish to edit.
What should I put in my One-to-One Career Connection?

We recommend that you have fun providing a full picture of who you are, your interests, and your career accomplishments. Since this is a community of Christian Scientist and those that are friendly to Christian Science, you can let your inspiration lead you. You will be asked to provide a brief summary of your work experience including job titles and responsibilities. And, a detailed description about your work history and/or career path, including special expertise and skills, accomplishments, professional values, and passions. (Can write as a personal narrative or “cut and paste” from your resume, bio, or LinkedIn profile.)

What does “Submit for Publish” mean?

This notifies the Career Alliance staff that you are ready for your career connection, job, internship or externship to be reviewed and published on the Connections and Jobs board.

How do I make changes to my career connections, job postings, internships and externships?

It’s a good idea to keep your Career Connection up-to-date, so it reflects new activities, skills, experiences, and accomplishments. Here’s a quick reminder for how to make additions and changes.

  1. Create a new account or Login
  2. Click My Postings and Connections.
  3. Select the Edit icon next to your posting(s).

NOTE: If your posting is currently “Published,” [OPEN] then click the “Connections Title” and “Unpublish. Follow step #3.

Does the Connections and Jobs board list my contact information?

No, only the city, state and country are listed on the Connections and Jobs board.

When will the Career Alliance share contact information?

When a request is made for a career connection, the Career Alliance team will contact you via email to notify you that a request to connect with you has been made. If you agree to the request, then the Career Alliance will share your contact information via email to the person making the request?

Note: Published career connections, list on the city, state, and country on the Connections and Jobs board.

When a seeker/student request a career connection, job, internship or externship, can I view their resume?
  1. Create a new account or Login
  2. Click Status of My Postings and Candidates
  3. Click the icon in the Action column to view the seeker/student
  4. Click on the “Candidates” name.
How do I use the Advance Search to search for Students, Job Seekers or Career Allies?

Utilize the Advanced Search functions to find Career Connections, Jobs, Internships, and Externships, with Career Allies in your specific career interest area, major or vocation, school, graduate degree or certification, city, or state.
